There are No Words…

JMJ

I was still teaching at the time. One of our students had been called to the office and was refusing to leave his classroom. I was sent to retrieve the student and escort him to the office. The hallways always had televisions scattered along the way. Both the student and I looked up at one that was showing the jet that first crashed into the Twin Towers. He, the student, jumped into the air and yelled, “Awesome.” when he saw that. I gasped and stood there in disbelief until this youngster said, “Umm, we’re at the office.” I dispatched him quickly and returned to the Resource Room.

The decision was made to close the school district wide. Students, as well as teachers, were sent home. Of course, for the rest of the day, we were all glued to our television set. My children, who attended the same school where I taught, came home with me.

There were tears and cries of disbelief, but there were just no words.

Later the words came: ANGER, FEAR, HORROR, SHOCK, DISBELIEF, AL QAEDA, OSAMA BIN LADEN…

Churches had opened their doors. People were coming in to pray and attend special memorial services. People did pray. People remembered God.

Then came the numbness followed by, “We’re okay.” “Life goes on.”
As a nation, we breathed a sigh of relief.

In the next 14 years, our society changed. Church attendence dramatically decreased. Rudeness. Unkindness. Rampant sexuality. Intolerenance of anything Godly has become the norm.

Speaking for the truth, people are labeled as “homophobic,” and “intolerant.” Support of life at all stages is ridiculed and considered an attack against women’s rights. Planned Parenthood is funded, even when the great evil in that organization is exposed. We no longer have the right to say what we think, unless we agree with those who support these issues and “causes.”

There’s more to come, but at the center of these changes is the simple fact that:

WE HAVE, ONCE AGAIN, FORGOTTEN GOD.

We have no excuses. We have made our choices. We have taught the younger generation what is good and what is evil.

God fogive us!
God forgive us!
